Adulting
Therapy in New York State

You feel like the BIG FISH in the little pond at home, but realize the world is a REALLY BIG pond and you’re…kind of a guppy.
Adulting is freakin’ hard. You’ve thought about what you’ll have to give up – like dad paying for gas – and realize that will soon be your responsibility.
You wonder, “Do adults get to have any fun?”
You fear life will never be the same. You won’t be able to do what you want, only what you HAVE to do.
You fear you’ll turn into a dried out, miserable grown-up.
“Adulting isn’t a one time event, like graduation. It’s a process of learning about yourself and of discovering and establishing your true identity.”
– Regina Howland, LMHC, NCC

Life WON’T ever be the same. But that’s not a bad thing… In fact, you might be embarking on your best adventure yet!
The start of a new journey can be tough and scary. But once you get some practice, your confidence grows and you realize you’ve got this.
You don’t have to be one of those dried up, miserable adults (I’m not!), and although life will look different, the pros (coming home when YOU want!) far outweigh the cons.
So how is this middle-aged lady gonna help ME?” I’m so glad you asked.
I too had to “adult” and it was tough. But I learned how to forge my own path, and how to help others forge theirs as well.
How will I help YOU?
First, I’m going to equip you with tools – assertiveness, healthy communication, etc – so you are ready for whatever comes.
Then, I’ll help you process the difficulties of morphing from youth to adult. I’ll also equip you with confidence to “leave the nest.”
Finally, we’ll work on practical steps: shelter, work, love, etc.
